Election Materials Distributed to All Provinces

PHNOM PENH: Ballots, indelible ink and other materials for Sunday’s election were successfully delivered to the country’s 24 provinces and their local election committees. Only a few areas have had to wait to distribute their materials to individual districts due to inclement weather.

NEC spokesman Hang Puthea confirmed to EAC News that the materials for the national election had already been transported to all provincial authorities, who then distributed the materials on a local level. Only Sihanoukville, Koh Kong, Kampot, Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri provinces have been unable to provide the materials to their local communes (Sangkats).

According to Hang Puthea, the northeastern provinces will be completely distributing their materials today, while coastal provinces may have to wait for more favourable weather conditions before getting the materials to all of their communes.

He said, "The [materials for] the coastal provinces have already arrived, but from the provincial authorities to the communes and districts will take time. Especially those located on islands.”
